Simplify the John Muir Trail
Planning a thru-hike of the John Muir Trail can be a mess of dates, permits and the stress of preparation. Let us help.
Permit Assistance and Itinerary Planning
Navigating the permit process for the John Muir Trail can be daunting. We will work hand-in-hand with you to acquire a permit that puts you on the trail when you want to be, and design an itinerary to match the entry point, dates, and expected conditions.
Comprehensive Resupply Strategy
There's a plethora of options on the JMT for food resupplies and zero days. We'll use your desired pace and fitness to craft a resupply strategy to get you refueled efficiently and inexpensively.
Fitness Preparation
The JMT is a physically demanding endeavor, filled with consistent elevation change and a variety of trail conditions. We can build you a fitness regimen to help you hit the miles in stride, so you can spend less time out of breath with wobbly legs and more time soaking in the scenery.
Equipment List Advice
Backpacking requires a careful balance between bringing what you need to be comfortable at camp while leaving enough behind to not suffer unduly while carrying it. We'll work with you to make sure everything you are carrying serves a necessary purpose.

Our Company
My name is Nick Oddi, and I think the Sierra is the greatest place on earth.
Back in 2021, I went on a short overnight in Sequoia National Park to Pear Lake, and I was hooked. Since then, I've spent about 100 nights out in the Sierra all along the range. I am a voracious researcher and planner, and my trips have always had detailed routes with collated information for various passes and obstacles. In 2024, I finally got the opportunity to hike the John Muir Trail, which I completed in 17 days.
During my trip, I ran into lots of fellow thru-hikers who inquired about conditions, mileage, or even transportation options in town, and many asked if I guided professionally. I want to leverage my experience and logistical aptitude to help aspiring JMT hikers with the daunting task of planning so you can focus on what really matters - hiking the trail.
